A Letter from Father Albert
February 28, 2021
Greetings in Christ,
Welcome to the second Sunday of Lent. In the gospel today, Jesus purposely invites Peter, James and John with him to the top of Mt. Tabor. Here Jesus allows these three to witness the most fascinating event in the life of Jesus, that they must continue to recall in Jerusalem in the coming days. Jesus is transfigured; this is a foretaste of Jesus’ suffering, crucifixion, death and resurrection. Later, when these things happen to Jesus, it is not a defeat, but a triumph or great victory, by the power of God. There are four identified transfigurations of Jesus: His human birth in Bethlehem; His crucifixion as a sacrificed lamb of God; His presence in the Eucharist; and, His Resurrection from the dead. These are all identifications of Jesus for all of us. He is truly God who becomes truly human, to save us from sin.
Blessings,
Fr. Albert B. Becher
